Caribbean and Central America itineraries: land in one city, fly home from another
Updated on
In short
Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama and the Caribbean islands. In the Yucatán, buses connect the main cities. Here you'll find 1 itineraries with stops, nights and transfers.
The most convenient gateways are Cancún and Mexico City; further south San José in Costa Rica and Panama City, in the Caribbean Havana, Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. A typical open-jaw lands in Mexico City and flies home from Cancún after the Yucatán; another combines Costa Rica and Panama, which share a land border.
Across most of the region the dry season runs roughly from December to April. The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June to November, peaking between August and October: in those months it's worth keeping your dates flexible.
Between Mexico, Belize and Guatemala you get around by bus, for example from the Yucatán towards Tikal; the Caribbean islands, on the other hand, can only be reached by plane or by ship. Two or three weeks is a common length. Check the entry requirements for each country on viaggiaresicuri.it.
